Plantina congratulates Nicolien Sauerbreij

15 December 2010 - Plantina Vitamins congratulates Nicolien Sauerbreij on being voted Sportswoman of the Year. The Olympic snowboarding champion was chosen by fellow sportsmen and women above speed skater Ireen Wüst and long distance swimmer Linsy Heister.

Six-time winner Sjoukje Dijkstra handed over the Jaap Eden trophy to Ed Hasselman, Nicolien Sauerbreij’s commercial manager, during the televised Sportgala. Sauerbreij herself was unable to attend the Sportgala event as she was involved in world cup races in the United States.

Sauerbreij owes her title to the winning of the World Cup this year, but above all her performance during the Vancouver Winter Olympic Games. Sauerbreij’s gold medal was a historic medal; it was the first Dutch Olympic Winter Games gold not won on ice. It was also the 100th gold medal for the Netherlands in Olympic history.

Plantina Vitamins have been sponsors for Nicolien Sauerbreij for a number of years. She explained, “I take three Plantina products on a regular basis. The multivitamin tablet, vitamin C and fish oil. I also regularly use ribose and Q10 to promote recovery following training or racing, and to stay focused and concentrated.”
