Nicolien Sauerbreij on her way to Vancouver
15 December 2009 - Snowboarder Nicolien Sauerbreij (30) has grasped the first possible opportunity to meet the requirements of NOC*NSF to participate in the Olympic Games in Vancouver.
This is the third successive time that Nicolien has attended the Olympic Winter Games! Nicolien finished in 8th place on Tuesday in the World Cup competition Parallel Giant Slalom in Telluride (Colorado) in America, thereby earning her ticket to the Games.
Despite the fact that we ‘expected’ this of her, Nicolien was happy and relieved to have achieved qualification at the first possible opportunity.
"Now I can focus on the rest of the season relaxed. Over the next few World Cups I can concentrate fully on achieving a podium position, without feeling any pressure to not make mistakes”, reported a delighted Nicolien from the USA.
The team can now also start slowly making plans for the rest of the season, with the Olympic Games in Vancouver in February. The Olympic Parallel Giant Slalom competition is programmed in for 26 February.
