Sporting history - Nicolien Sauerbreij Sponsoring

Nicolien Sauerbreij is a professional snowboarder. She is currently training hard to peak during the Winter Olympics in 2010 in Vancouver. For 10 years she has been part of the world cup circuit, but really broke through in the 2007/2008 season. Everything fell into place and she maintained excellent form.

She won the parallel slalom world cup and the overall snowboard world cup. A unique performance. She also won 4 world cup races and ended in the top three on five more occasions, including the race in Landgraaf, the Netherlands.

Following the Olympic Games in Turin, she had considered ending her career. Nicolien Sauerbreij explained, "I fortunately reconsidered. I still enjoy the sport too much and I am progressing well in training. The average age of top snowboarders is around 28 so there is still plenty of opportunity!!

Nicolien Sauerbreij is very conscious of her food intake. “In the Netherlands I buy almost exclusively organic products, because they contain more elementary nutrients. Because I eat no meat, I must be careful with my protein intake. Because I use a great deal of energy during training and racing, my body needs plenty of new energy and other physical building blocks like vitamins, minerals and proteins. As well as ‘normal food’, I take a daily dosage of multivitamins, extra vitamin C, Algae and Ribose from Plantina. All these supplements are checked by the anti-doping authorities and therefore safe. I also take an iron supplement for better oxygen transport at altitudes.

Thanks to my sponsors, including of course Plantina and the Plantina products, I am able to focus in a positive and healthy manner on my sport, on the journey towards the Olympic Games in Vancouver in 2010!"
