Coenzyme Q10

For a daily boost
The body is itself able to produce coenzyme Q10, certainly at a younger age. However, it has been shown that many people have more energy if they take coenzyme Q10 as a daily food supplement. A dosage of 50 to 100 mg per day is enough. Coenzyme Q10 helps increase stamina.

Coenzyme Q10

Extra energy for muscles and heart
Coenzyme Q10 is not only a powerful antioxidant but is above vital for the energy supply to all body cells, above all those of the heart and muscle

Especially for the under-45s
There are two forms of coenzyme Q10 as a food supplement: as ubiquinon (such as this Plantina Coenzyme Q10 forte) and ubiquinol (Plantina Coenzyme Q10-H active). The latter is produced in the body from the former, and is the active form. As we get older, the production of ubiquinol from ubiquinon gradually falls. Young people below the age of 45 years can easily make do with Plantina Coenzyme Q10, as a supplement. Older people could consider taking the more active ubiquinol (Plantina Coenzyme Q10-H active). Elite athletes should perhaps take a combination of the two.

Why Plantina Coenzyme Q10?

Coenzyme Q10 is not only a powerful antioxidant but is above all vital for the energy supply to all body cells, especially those of heart and muscles. Coenzyme Q10 supplies the ATP, the chemical storage form of energy, with the necessary electrons. It is important that the heart of people young and old always has access to sufficient coenzyme Q10. For elite athletes to deliver a top performance, and for older people even for day-to-day activities.

Is Plantina Coenzyme Q10 safe?

Kaneka Q10 has been used worldwide for more than 25 years. In 2006, a further study was carried out on human beings, on the basis of which a dosage of 900 mg per day was identified as entirely safe. Coenzyme Q10 is amongst the so-called ‘GRAS’ substances: Generally Recognised As Safe, the safest label a substance can obtain. Plantina Coenzyme Q10 is listed in the Dutch Security System Food Supplements Top Athletes (NZVT). It is also tested by the Sporthochschule in Cologne and TNO.

D-ribose, L-carnitine and coenzyme Q10. Which of the three?

The three substances work together, each with their own specific function. It is therefore not possible to clearly determine which substance or combination should be taken by preference. The general recommendation, for a maintenance dose, is to opt for L-carnitine (certainly for vegetarians) and/or coenzyme Q10. For active people (sport), D-ribose is the preferred substance.

What is Kaneka Q10?

The raw material used for Plantina Coenzyme Q10 is Kaneka-Q10. The Plantina Coenzyme Q10 contains the fermented form. This form is identical to the Q10 occurring naturally in the body (all-trans; no synthetic cis-isomer). Kaneka, Japan, is the only company in the world capable of producing this form of coenzyme Q10.

Have studies been carried out with Coenzyme Q10?

Practically all academic studies using coenzyme Q10 anywhere in the world have studied Kaneka-Q10. Because it is forbidden in law to refer to the effectiveness of any food supplement, including Kaneka-Q10, in the event of illness, we must suffice with referring to:

Mizuno K, Tanaka M, Nozaki S, Mizuma H, Ataka S, Tahara T, Sugino T, Shirai T, Kajimoto Y, Kuratsune H, Kajimoto O, Watanabe Y. Antifatigue effects of coenzyme Q10 during physical fatigue. Nutrition 2008; 24(4):293-299

The safety of Kaneka-Q10 has been determined in a number of safety studies, including:

Zita C, Overvad K, Mortensen SA, Sindberg CD, Moesgaard S, Hunter DA. Serum coenzyme Q10 concentrations in healthy men supplemented with 30 mg or 100 mg coenzyme Q10 for two months in a randomised controlled study. Biofactors 2003; 18(1-4):185-93

Which of the three? Coenzyme Q10, Coenzyme Q10 forte or Coenzyme Q10-H active?

Coenzyme Q10   50 mg (ubiquinon)
For daily maintenance
As a powerful fat-soluble antioxidant and energy supplier. Protects and helps the cells produce ATP.

Coenzyme Q10 forte 150 mg (ubiquinon)
For special circumstances
To be used in advance of major exertion (both mental and physical), stress and fatigue.

Coenzyme Q10-H active 50 mg (ubiquinol)
Above all for older people
Immediately biologically available; is the bioactive form. The chemical structure formula for ubiquinol differs from classical coenzyme Q10 in that it contains the H (hydrogen) atom.

What is the packaging size?
