N-acetylcysteine (NAC)

N-acetylcysteine (NAC) is an effective detoxifying agent
N-acetylcysteine (NAC) is the ultimate substance for protecting tissues and organs. In itself it is a powerful antioxidant and is above all the predecessor to glutathion, which is present in every cell in the body as a universal antioxidant. N-acetylcysteine helps to detoxify the body of substances which enter the body via lungs or the intestinal tract, and substances which are formed in the body during metabolism.

N-acetylcysteine (NAC)

N-acetylcysteine (NAC) as an antioxidant, above all in the liver
In the event of increased stress and exertion, the body produces additional free radicals. An excess of free radicals means a direct risk to health. Antioxidants such as Performax N-acetylcysteine neutralise these free radicals. Above all in the liver, Performax N-acetylcysteine supports the action of enzymes.

N-acetylcysteine (NAC) is an age essential
As we grow older, the quantity of glutathion in tissues and organs falls considerably. Plantina N-acetylcysteine helps to top up the supply of glutathion and is therefore amongst the age essentials (substances which become more and more vital as years pass because the human body is less and less capable of producing these substances or substances formed therefrom, for itself).

What is the position of N-acetylcysteine (NAC) between all the other antioxidants?

You can above all use N-acetylcysteine as an antioxidant to support the detoxification process in the liver or as a general support to the liver function. Thanks to the universal antioxidant action of glutathion – the substance produced in the body from the N-acetylcysteine - N-acetylcysteine can also be taken as a daily antioxidant supplement.

Is Plantina N-acetylcysteine safe?

N-acetylcysteine is the standard treatment following paracetamol poisoning. In that case, high dosages are given and only in rare  cases have side effects occurred, such as intestinal problems and skin reactions.

What is the packaging size?

The packaging units are 60 tablets or 120 tablets.

Dosage and use

For daily maintenance: 1 to 2 tablets Plantina N-acetylcysteïne (550 mg) a day.

In exceptional circumstances: 1 to 3 tablets a day Plantina N-acetylcysteïne (550 mg) in the event of particular exertion (both mental and physical), stress and fatigue.

Preferably taken during or shortly after the meal.

Why N-acetylcysteine and not L-cysteine?

Although cysteine is the immediate predecessor of the universal antioxidant in the body, glutathion, preference has been given to N-acetylcysteine (NAC) as a food supplement. NAC is the more stable form of L-cysteine and does not oxidise as quickly as L-cysteine. Oxidation rapidly degrades L-cysteine to cystiene, as a result of which the antioxidant effect is lost.
