Vitamin C at least 1000 mg Of all the vitamins, vitamin C is possibly the most important. This is because man is one of the few living creatures unable to produce this vitamin independently. The Food Centre recommends 70 mg vitamin C per day, approximately the amount contained in a single orange. According to twice Nobel Prize winner and vitamin C pioneer Linus Pauling, an orthomolecular food supplement must contain at least 1000 mg vitamin C in the form of ascorbic acid. The Plantina Vitamin C 1000 mg meets this requirement.
How much vitamin C in stressful situations?
Linus Pauling believes that people should take at least 1000 mg (1 gram) vitamin C every day, and preferably at least 3000 mg. This quantity was calculated by observing the amount of vitamin C animals produce each day. Converted according to body weight, he arrives at 3 grams of vitamin C per day. When animals are under stress, they produce additional vitamin C. Vitamin C is the ultimate stress vitamin, but only if taken in sufficiently high dosage.
Only vitamin C
Vitamin C, in a high dosage, is inherently effective. For that reason, the high-dosage Plantina Vitamin C contains only vitamin C in the form of ascorbic acid, and no other substances are added which work synergetically with vitamin C at lower dosages, for example certain bioflavonoids. For that reason, Plantina Vitamin C 1000 mg can be taken at any dosage, without there being a risk of taking in too many other substances. This is in line with the recommendations of Prof. Linus Pauling, the orthomolecular physician Robert Cathcart and Prof. Steve Hickey.

The most remarkable feature of Plantina Vitamin C 1000 mg is – alongside the high dosage – the fact that it is the most compact vitamin C 1000 mg table available. This tablet uses the very minimum of substances necessary for producing the tablet. In other words, no unnecessary excipiens, making it easier to swallow.
Scientific research (J. Am. Dietetic Assoc. 1994. 94:779-781) has shown that vitamin C requires no extra additives such as bioflavonoids, rose hip extracts, etc. to be optimally absorbed from the gastrointestinal system. For this purpose, it has also been shown that there is absolutely no requirement for vitamin C to be in ester form. No such artificial tactics have been employed with the vitamin C from Plantina. These would only make the preparation more expensive.
The vitamin C 1000 mg tablet from Plantina is the most compact vitamin C 1000 mg tablet in existence. This tablet uses the very minimum of additional substances necessary for producing the tablet. In other words, no unnecessary excipiens, making it easier to swallow. Put another way, the pot of vitamin C from Plantina contains the greatest possible volume of vitamin C.
The recommended daily dosage (ADH), as proposed by the Netherlands Nutrition Centre is 60 mg of vitamin C. According to twice Nobel Prize winner Linus Pauling, this is far too little to provide the body cells with the optimum amount of vitamin C. He recommends people take at least 1000 to 3000 mg a day. This is because the human body itself is unable to produce any vitamin C, contrary to the majority of plants and animals. If we look at the amount of vitamin C a mouse, a goat or a horse itself produces, and convert that amount to the human being on the basis of body weight, the human body would require between 2000 and 4000 mg. In situations of stress, animals produce even more vitamin C. With this in mind, according to Pauling, when under stress, man also requires further vitamin C. Stress-inducing situations include smoking, excessive drinking, elite sport, psychological stress and poor physical fitness (weak immune system).
1000 mg vitamin C is a high dosage. The already mentioned twice Nobel Prize winner Linus Pauling recommends taking at least 3000 mg of vitamin C every day. His argument is that the human being is unable to make vitamin C in the body, unlike almost every other plant and animal in existence. If we were to convert the amount of vitamin C produced for example by a goat, a dog or an elephant in their body, on the basis of body weight, the human body would require approx. 3000 mg (3 gram) of vitamin C. In a stressful situation, animals produce additional vitamin C. In other words, in periods of stress, we require further additional vitamin C, for example between 4 and 10 grams.
