Elite athletes demand a great deal from their body, and the food supplements from Plantina can make a valuable contribution to achieving top performance.
More and more sportsmen and women are recognising that nutrition and food supplements are essential links in the sports chain. By sponsoring the Women’s Premier Division, we aim to give our name awareness an additional boost. And of course at the same time promote women’s football, a sport I enjoy watching.”
The chairwoman of the Stichting Eredivisie Vrouwen, Clémence Ross is very enthusiastic about the new partnership. “We are delighted with Plantina as a partner. It is a dynamic business that works with numerous elite athletes, and so has a good understanding of how sportsmen and women live, and what drives them. In addition, Plantina has demonstrated considerable enthusiasm for women’s football, and wishes to contribute to a further popularisation of the sport, the kind of support we urgently need in this stage of development. I hope this will be a long-term partnership, and I am certain that both parties will reap benefits from the cooperation. "
Sporting success
The KNVB (Royal Netherlands Football Association) launched the Women’s Premier Division two years ago. The chief objective was to raise the Dutch women’s game to the highest international level. Partly thanks to the introduction of the Premier Division, the Dutch women’s eleven, for the first time in history, reached the finals of the European football championship for women, currently being held in Finland.
The Women’s Premier Division is not only a sporting success. Spectator numbers for the so-called Match of the Week on average reach 5,000. The number of women and girls involved in football has been growing by approximately ten percent per year over the past few years. The KNVB has now more than 110,000 female members.
