As ‘natural’ as possible

Plantina does not paint a picture prettier than it is. The same applies for the ‘naturalness’ of its food supplements. Some manufacturers are only too pleased to tell you that heir food supplements are ‘natural’. It is however not possible to use vitamins from natural sources for high-dosage tablets. That would make the tablets far too large.

In addition, in most cases, natural vitamins are no better than synthetic vitamins. There are however a number of exceptions. Beta-carotene (provitamin A) from the natural source Dunaliella salina is for example the most effective. This alga also contains other important carotenoids such as lutein, alpha-carotene and zeaxanthin. This mixture makes the beta-carotene far more effective. For that reason, Plantina has opted for Dunaliella salina as its source of beta-carotene.

For vitamin E, Plantina also prefers the natural form, because its effectiveness in the body is far higher. Natural vitamin E per weight unit contains approximately double the content of the synthetic form. The natural form of vitamin E can be recognised by its scientific name:: d-alpha-tocoferol (or d-alpha-tocoferyl succinate). The synthetic form is known as: d,l-alpha-tocoferol. The difference lies in the letter ‘l’.

Plantina Coenzyme Q10 is also relatively ‘natural’ in origin. The raw material used is Kaneka-Q10. This fermented form is identical to the Q10 naturally occurring in the body.
